11/02/28 - Because of the high number of submitted abstracts, we extend the conference by one session on Thursday afternoon. The conference will end on Thursday 9th June at about 5 pm.

 

 

Invitation and Aim

The local organizing committee of the 5th International Short Conference on Applied Coastal Research (SCACR) 2011 together with the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), the German Port Technology Association (HTG), the German Coastal Engineering Research Council (GCERC-KFKI), the University of Salento and further well-known German coastal engineering institutes invite you to attend the 5th SCACR which takes place in Aachen, Germany, in June 2011.

The aim of the 5th SCACR is to provide all participants with information on the latest developments from both scientific and engineering perspectives in coastal issues and to exchange views with users and stakeholders of the coastal zone. In addition to five keynote lectures a number of technical papers will be presented during five technical sessions with the following topics:

  • Coastal Structures
  • Coastal Processes
  • Coastal Risks / Risk Management
  • Coastal and Port Environments
  • Coastal Developments
  • Modeling, Management

SCACR is addressed to both MSc and PhD students, together with scholars and specialists who want to present their papers and to attend the short course lectures dealing with some of the "hot" topics in present coastal research. All accepted and presented papers will be published in the 5th SCACR proceedings sponsored by HTG, GCERC-KFKI and the RWTH Aachen University.

The 5th SCACR will be held at the RWTH Aachen University. Aachen as an imperial city is located at the meeting point of three countries, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. The nearest airports are Dusseldorf, Cologne and Brussels, all are located around 1.5 hours by train from Aachen city.
