Institute of Hydraulic Engineering
and Water Resources Management

Head of the research group: Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Elena Pummer

The sustainable supply of energy is one of the most important objectives for the future and hydropower plays a particularly decisive role. The aim of our research group is to investigate fundamental questions in the field of hydropower. Research methods are field measurements, experimental investigations, numerical simulations and theoretical analyses.

Current research topics

  • Investigation of the orientation and search behavior of fish at raking systems in hydropower plants
  • Hydrodynamic processes in underground pumped storage plants
  • Hydropower use while filling open cut mines
