52nd virtual International Symposium on Hydraulic Engineering Aachen
Flood 2021: Experiences and consequences
Extreme storms led to massive flooding in parts of Europe in July 2021. In Germany, regions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate were particularly affected; here, heavy rainfall led to a flood disaster within a few hours, with more than 180 deaths and billions of euros in material damage.
The 52nd International Symposium on Hydraulic Engineering in Aachen provides a digital platform for pooling and exchanging experiences, assessments and scientific expertise on the subject of flooding. In addition to field reports from affected communities, flood protection experts will provide impulses and suggestions for flood-prone regions.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 52nd IWASA will again take place as a one-day online seminar. Information on the programme are available here and on our IWASA homepage shortly. Please register here to receive registration details for the online conference in early January 2022. Participation in the event is free of charge.
