The research project Bridging Scales aims at testing the numerical modeling of aeolian sediment transport for its applicability to large-scale dune development prediction using remote sensing data. First, the physical difference, or similarities, between fluvial transport processes of dunes on the riverbed of a stream and large dune fields in western Mongolia will be highlighted. For this purpose, software developed at IWW as well as freely available other software will be investigated. Possible software freely available include the Duna model (ROEVELNIK & COASTAS, 2019) or AeoLiS. Finally, an integration of remote sensing data and the demands on these data will be investigated.
