Extended field trip 2019

The field trip 2019 of the IWW and ISA took place from June 10th to 15th, 2019 focusing on topics of hydraulic engineering and water management in Germany and Denmark and was organized jointly by both chairs.
The participating students were introduced to different companies and projects. The knowledge taught in the lectures from the different areas of urban water management, hydraulic engineering and water management was presented to the students in a descriptive way using practical experience.
On Monday, the students travelled by bus from Aachen to Dülmen, where they visited the Dülmen sewage treatment plant. From there the trip continued to Bassum to visit a landfill sealing construction site of the company G quadrat. Afterwards on Tuesday the flood protection of Bremen and the weir Geesthacht were visited. On Wednesday the journey continued by bus to Copenhagen, where the Avedøre sewage treatment plant and the Vestforbraending waste incineration plant were visited. On Thursday the journey continued to DHI Horsholm. This was followed by a lecture on "Bathing in the Port of Copenhagen" and a tour of the bathing resorts in the port. On Friday the journey continued by bus and ferry to Hamburg where the Köhlbrandhöft sewage treatment plant was visited. The field trip ended on Saturday with a visit to the ship canal lift in Lüneburg, from where the journey continued back to Aachen.
